In a recent podcast, four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon spoke on a number of topics. Among them, he opened up to defending champion Lewis Hamilton.

The former Hendrick Motorsports driver admitted the British superstar could have done well in the NASCAR arena.

He said, “Had I taken this route, I would have been successful, as was Lewis Hamilton. When you have this ability and talent to find the limits of the car and have the confidence, drive and desire to push yourself in every way possible. Do your utmost to be successful. “

Of course, this is all speculation and no one knows how F1 drivers would fare in any other setting. There have been quite a few NASCAR F1 crossovers in the past like Jimmie Johnson and Fernando Alonso.

Hamilton also participated in a previous car swap, this time with Tony Stewart at Watkins Glen.

Lewis Hamilton is in a fierce battle for the championship

The Mercedes superstar and Red Bulls Max Verstappen are fighting a close battle for the championship. In the recently concluded Azerbaijan Grand Prix, both drivers suffered terrible races.

This means that the drivers’ standings are maintaining their status quo. Now the F1 community is traveling to Circuit Paul Ricard in 2 weeks to take part in the French Grand Prix.

Without a doubt, Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton will be eager for redemption after a race full of missed opportunities. Meanwhile, Gordon has happily withdrawn from the racing scene. He now works with Fox NASCAR as a commentator.
